Tell us the whole truth, urge police

POLICE investigations hit a snag when complainants decline to divulge full details on an incident, said Penang Police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob.

“The complainants will always tell police that they have no enemies or they are not heavily in debt,” he said.

“But there’s no smoke without fire.

“In most investigations, the complainants only disclose half truths which are tilted in their favour.”

DCP Ayub was speaking before launching a blood donation campaign held in conjunction with Police Day at the Marine Police base in Batu Uban in Penang.

He was commenting on an incident where a motorcycle mechanic alleged that his shop in Datuk Keramat had been splashed with red paint at least five times since last week.

The complainant also alleged that some old motorcycles placed in front of his shop were torched.

To this, DCP Ayub said investigations were being carried out, adding that there was a high possibility that it was Ah Long (loan shark) related even though the mechanic did not mention it.

On another matter, DCP Ayub said Penang police were working hard to bring down street crimes in line with the Home Ministry’s National Key Result Area (NKRA) target of a 20% reduction by the end of the year.

He said a second meeting involving government enforcement agencies was convened recently.

“We will conduct joint operations from time to time in an effort to bring down crime rates,” he said.

DCP Ayub urged the public to air their views through the various dialogue sessions held in numerous places in the state.

“We need constructive feedback from the public to improve our delivery system.

“We do not want baseless allegations hurled at us,” he said.

More than 100 policemen took part in the blood donation campaign.

My Comment: Bulls***! Go and investigate the owner's family(probably his wife tag with the loan shark), not my father himself! Some of the statement is not true, should PC with my father instead....
